Case Background
Entrusted by the owner, the insured boxed and exported 4 customized elevators to Colombia and 2 customized elevators to Russia respectively. At the end of March 2022, the consignee of Colombia received the elevator that were actually ordered by the consignee of Russia. So far, it was found that 4 elevators and 2 elevators were loaded with reverse containers, resulting in the wrong shipment of goods, involving the value of 1 million RMB.
Investigation Situation
After our company intervened on April 1st, 2022, we required the insured to arrange transfer immediately to reduce the loss. However, the Russian consignee's schedule was urgent, the transfer of goods could not arrive at the project site as scheduled, so the Russian consignee asked for the returns and refund. Considering the high cost of return and shipment, our company arranged to look for salvage value locally and got the value quote of USD 5,000.00. On April 24th, 2022, the cargo at its original destination in Colombia was successfully intercepted en route and received by the Colombian consignee normally. According to the contract of carriage, the insured shall be liable for the wrongful shipment of goods. It was covered under the policy.
Solution
Under the advice and guidance of our company, 4 Colombian elevators were successfully transferred, and 2 Russian elevators were forced to be abandoned, resulting in a total loss of 450,000 RMB for transfer and abandonment. After deducting deductibles, the insurance company finally paid 400,000 RMB for the settlement of the case.
