Case Background

On July 5th, 2022, when in the process of piloting, ships and docks collided because of poor visibility and strong falling tide, leading to the formation of depression and holes between the bulb bow and the left anchor, and the damage of the concrete platform edge of the wharf.

Investigation Situation

Our company had boarded the ship and conducted a joint inspection with P&I (Protection and Indemnity) on July 5th, 2022. We checked the damaged ships and docks and did not find any casualties, oil leak or water pollution.  Since the owner also purchased the LOSS OF HIRE rent insurance in the insurance company, we recommend the repair as soon as possible to reduce the loss.

Solution

After consulting the local maintenance team and making inquiries in the local market, our company introduced several maintenance quotation schemes to provide proposal for reference and prices for the insurance company and ship owners. Finally, the ship was repaired and sailed normally without triggering the rental insurance.
